Youngkin Launches 'Latinos for Youngkin' Coalition

June 18, 2021

FALLS CHURCH, VA - Political outsider, successful business leader, and Republican nominee for governor Glenn Youngkin announced today the launch of the “Latinos for Youngkin” coalition. Glenn and Latinos for Youngkin will work to preserve the American Dream for every Virginian by creating good-paying jobs, increasing opportunities for students to receive a quality education, and expanding access to affordable healthcare.

Latinos for Youngkin will be led by Chairwoman Yesli Vega and Co-Chair Daniel Cortez. The Honorable Yesli Vega is a former police officer and a Prince William County Sheriff’s Deputy, and serves as Coles District Supervisor. The Honorable Daniel Cortez is a Marine combat veteran, journalist, Chairman of the National Vet Court Alliance, and currently sits on the President’s Advisory Commission on Hispanic Prosperity.

“I’m humbled and honored to be a part of Latinos for Youngkin. As the daughter of Salvadoran immigrants, I know firsthand the unique experiences of the Latino community. Glenn Youngkin represents the hardworking, family values embodied by the Latino community, and I look forward to working alongside him to bring his positive vision of faith, family, and freedom to everyone in the Commonwealth,” said Vega.

“As a proud American of Hispanic descent and a veteran, I have great optimism supporting a genuine Virginia job creator who respects patriotism and the need to preserve and protect Virginia’s family values and history. There is no individual better suited to lead our diverse communities at large than Glenn Youngkin. He enthusiastically has my support and my vote this November!” said Cortez.

“I am thrilled to have Yesli and Daniel on our team and leading our Latino outreach in Virginia. I will be a governor who serves all Virginians and will support policies that get Virginia’s economy moving again, create jobs, support all Virginians' religious freedom, give parents the power to choose where their children go to school, and expand access to affordable healthcare," said Youngkin. "I know Latinos in Virginia are tired of the status quo, the same old politicians that fail to deliver, and tired old policies that don’t preserve the American dream. I will deliver for the Latino community and all Virginians. Together, we will make Virginia the best place to live, work, and raise a family.”
