Huge momentum for true outsider and first-time candidate
FALLS CHURCH, VA – Political outsider, conservative business leader, and candidate for Virginia governor Glenn Youngkin today announced his campaign raised more than $1 million from supporters in the first 10 days since it launched.
“I’m so thankful to everyone who chose to invest in my campaign and the hope of bringing a new day to Virginia,” said Youngkin. “The broad-based support we’re seeing is overwhelming, and this incredibly strong start will propel us forward to win the Republican nomination for governor. I can’t wait to take on whoever the Democrats settle for, turn our Commonwealth red again, and make Virginia the best place to live, work, and raise a family.”
While support for Youngkin’s campaign came from across America, the vast majority of the funds raised were from Virginia.
Glenn grew up in Richmond and Virginia Beach. For the last 26 years, he’s lived with his wife Suzanne in Northern Virginia, where they raised four wonderful children together.
The former co-CEO of Carlyle, Glenn got his start at the company when it was a small firm, over 25 years ago. He worked his way up, earning the privilege to lead the company. Along the way he helped grow it into one of the leading investment firms in the world – an extremely successful company that employed nearly 2,000 people and managed assets in excess of $230 billion dollars, nearly four times the size of Virginia’s yearly budget. The company’s investments focused predominantly in American businesses and American workers, and helped fund the retirements of teachers, police officers, firefighters, countless private sector employees, and supported hundreds of thousands of American jobs.
